Rachel Wisniewski is an independent photojournalist and writer based in Philadelphia, PA, USA.
Her work often explores stories at the intersections of community, identity and trauma—including topics that personally affect her such as hearing loss, Jewish identity, and the #MeToo movement.
Rachel has received various grants throughout her career, including from The National Geographic Society (2021), International Women’s Media Foundation (2022), and Solutions Journalism Network (2022). Her work has been exhibited in Photoville in 2019 and 2024. And, ten photographs from her project “L’dor Vador” was acquired by the Library of Congress in 2023.
She was a Gwen Ifill Fellow through the International Women’s Media Foundation, a Complicating The Narrative Fellow through Solutions Journalism Network, and also completed a three year mentorship program with Ed Kashi and James Estrin.
She is a regular contributor to publications including: The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and more.
Beyond photography, Wisniewski is passionate about volunteering, traveling, reading, and food. When she doesn't have a camera in her hands, it’s probably because she's eating pizza.
